Manuela Geleng is Director for Jobs and Skills at the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion at the European Commission. She is responsible for the Future of Work strategy, which focuses on the transformation of the workplace such as platform and remote working, the right to disconnect, and youth employment. Ms Geleng is also responsible for the implementation of the European Skills Agenda, a five-year plan to help individuals and businesses develop better, more relevant skills and spearheaded the recent European Year of Skills in 2023. Before joining the European Commission, Ms Geleng worked in the private sector and for the United Nations Development Programme. She holds two Master’s degrees, one in Financial Economics from the University of London and one in Public Administration and Management from the Solvay Business School in Brussels.
