Justina Ashiyana

WorldSkills Champions Trust Representative for Africa

Portrait of Justina Ashiyana.

Justina’s journey from a small town in Namibia has made her a role model for African youth. Inspired by her father’s construction work, she pursued vocational training in Joinery after high school. Justina describes her skill as a blend of logic, imagination, and intuition that allows her to be “creative and innovative, solution-focused and action-oriented.” She overcame discrimination to compete nationally for WorldSkills, before representing Namibia at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017. Since then, Justina has represented Namibia internationally. She has worked as a joinery trainer, served as a WorldSkills Namibia Expert in Joinery, and was a Team Leader at WorldSkills Africa Swakopmund 2022. Justina also participated in BeChangeMaker Africa 2022, promoting sustainable sanitary pads for marginalized schoolgirls with the project ‘Yours is Mine’. Currently, she is pursuing a diploma in VET instruction at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
