Australia’s best apprentice carpenter, Jayme Cannon started in the trade after finding his passion in a high school woodworking class. Working in regional Victoria, Jayme undertook a carpentry apprenticeship with Westvic Staffing Solutions and trained at South West TAFE. He quickly excelled in his trade and was encouraged to join WorldSkills Australia. In a tight competition, Jayme’s quick thinking and positive attitude led him to the gold medal. Jayme now runs his own company, Chipping Rnd Aus, offering carpentry solutions in his local region with plans to expand across the country. As a small business owner, Jayme is investing back into the apprenticeships system by taking on his own apprentice through Westvic Staffing Solutions. Now, Jayme is travelling to Lyon to support Team Australia and share his lived experience of apprenticeships with the international skills community.
